Alien Crime Syndicate: Dust to Dirt

Album cover for Alien Crime Syndicate: Dust to Dirt Rating:
**

Alien Crime Syndicate’s Dust to Dirt charges right out of the box with “Take Me to Your Leader,” one of the band’s crunchy punk-pop ditties, and then travels a straight line all the way through its final track. Through all twelve tracks, Alien Crime Syndicate stick to what they do best, and they do it relatively well. Taken alone, each of the songs is reasonably catchy and listenable. Unfortunately, taken as a whole, the songs on Dust to Dirt all begin to sound the same, blending together into one really long, boring punk-pop song. Even on the songs where the band tries to switch things up, like “What I Said” and “Atmosphere,” the band is stuck using the same tricks they use for all their other songs. There is, however, an audience for music just like this. And really, for a punk-pop album, Dust to Dirt isn’t bad; it just isn’t exceptional in any manner.
