Gratitude: Gratitude
Rating: The self-titled debut album from Gratitude has gotten some pretty positive press from punkbands.com and Alternative Press, but that’s not really abnormal for any album. No matter how bad a record is, there’s always someone who likes it, someone willing to say good things for the sticker on the outside. There are people who would and will love Gratitude, and every band that sounds like them. But Gratitude are nothing unique in the popular music scene today, purveyors of modern emo, or whatever the hell you want to call it if you’re offended by the dillution of your favorite genre. The one thing that separates them from the rest of the pack is that the debut contains zero words upon which the FCC frowns. In terms of distinctions, that’s a pretty weak one. Essentially, Gratitude are the Goo Goo Dolls, if they had less talent and were an emo band. Big whoop.

This is 1 of the approximately 254,657,865,159 bands that all have the same “new, cutting edge” sound. Good Review!

367 days later…Thanks! I’m actually kind of glad I haven’t seen these guys on television or anything. I think the Gratitude threat is pretty much over.
