Parry Gripp was apparently the lead singer of Nerf Herder, who were famous for doing the theme to the Buffy The Vampire Slayer television show, and being named after a Star Wars insult. Anyway, this album is freaking brilliant. Basically, in response to a request to write a jingle for a waffle commercial, the guy wrote 51 of them. They are divided into 9 categories, including but not limited to Songs About Waffles, Songs About Food Other Than Waffles, and Songs About Places You Can Go. Songs like “Do You Like Waffles?,” “Great Nachos, Great Price,” and “Say Hello To Your Brand New Favorite Pizza” will have anyone rolling on the floor laughing (ROFL!) within the first 15 seconds. The liner notes to this album would be worth a couple bucks on their own, but these retarded ditties make For Those About to Shop, We Salute You one of the best albums of the year.
