Garage a Trois: Bande Originale du Film de Outre Mer
Rating: Garage a Trois are back with thir third album, Outre Mer, the soundtrack to the film of the same name. The album isn’t much of a departure for the quartet, although Skerik sticks to saxophones this time out, leaving out the synths and electronics of past work. Otherwise, this is more of the same great funky acid jazz we’ve come to expect from the group. Charlie Hunter’s simultaneous melodies and basslines are impressive, Mike Dillon’s vibes sound fantastic, and Stanton Moore’s drumming is creative as expected. The playing of every member is solid, the melodies are inventive, and the group sounds tighter than Burt Reynolds’ skin after a face-lift. Excellent release.

I know basically nothing about acid jazz. But I like stuff that has soul. And stuff that has soul AND rocks is the best. And this falls into the category of “the best” PLUS they’re good musicians. One of the top ten releases of [whatever year this came out in].
You guys should put the release date on the album review page.

I just might start doing that, along with what label the music is on.
