OK Go: Oh No
Rating: OK Go released their major label debut a few years ago with a self-titled album full of edgy, nervous pop-rock with a shiny radio-ready sheen. Since then, the face of modern rock radio has changed a bit but OK Go have stayed the same, writing songs with hooks sharper than the Miracle Blade III Perfection Series knives. OK Go brought in Tore Johansson (Franz Ferdinand) to twiddle knobs on the boards, but his influence is largely peripheral, really only showing up on “A Million Ways.” Some songs are equally shiny, just in a less Franz Ferdinand-y sort of way, while others sound a bit more ragged and loose. Sprinkled throughout the album are OK Go’s trademark vocal harmonies and none-too-serious lyrics. Fans of OK Go or power pop in general should definitely enjoy Oh No.
