Supergrass: Road to Rouen
Rating: One of my favorite things about early Supergrass was their boundless enthusiasm for sloppy, energetic pop songs like “Caught By The Fuzz.” Their ability to rock almost out of control was charming. There is none of that on Road To Rouen, and I initially thought I didn’t like the album. Once I gave the record a few listens, however, I concluded RTR isn’t that bad. The album has a decidedly delightful glam/classic rock vibe to it, incorporating a different British music trend than the massively popular dance-rock trick, and although not all of the tracks are exciting, they’re all enjoyable and catchy. I wouldn’t really expect anything else from Supergrass.
