La Rocca: Sing Song Sung
(Dangerbird, 2006) Irish quartet La Rocca’s debut full-length is due in August of this year, and to soften up audiences the band and Dangerbird Records decided to put out a four song taste of what’s to come. Said taste, the Sing Song Sung EP, which arrived in February, portends lovely things in the future from the band. Each song on the disc is an energetic pop/rock workout, incorporating influences from classic rock, new wave, and the garage rock revival. While there are no weak tracks, the two best are probably the bookends. “Sing Song Sung” displays the band’s skill at writing a hook, and “Cambodia” is the best example of the arena-ready nature of the band’s sound. La Rocca would sound great in a small club or a giant stadium, and it will also sound great in your car or on your headphones.
