The proud new owner of an autographed copy of The Lashes’ Get It and a Lashes t-shirt is…(drumroll) David Hess! Yes, that’s right, my very own brother. And do you know how that happened? On the last day of the contest, he entered himself nine times, by making nine comments. And do you know what’s interesting about that? He hadn’t listened to any of the albums whose reviews he commented on.

So for those people who’d like to win a contest or just make a comment for fun, but haven’t listened to the albums being reviewed, read David’s comments from today (over the last six or so reviews) for a quick primer on how to comment without knowing what you’re talking about. If you ask a question, I’ll answer it. If you make a provocative declaration, I’ll respond. If you just say “good review,” I’ll say thank you. Not every “legitimate” comment is directly about an album’s quality or content. Get creative, and you’ll be a winner soon enough.
